Staff Culture, Made Tangible

Some of the work I'm proudest of was never seen by the public. It was made for staff. This includes the staff picnic decorations, the recreated employee name tag as a Barbie box for Halloween, the appreciation gifts, the custom desk and workspace pieces, the departmental signage, the teacher and volunteer thank-you sets, and the small handmade items given to colleagues. Internal culture work rarely has a budget line and almost never has a metric attached. It matters anyway. When someone gets something clearly made for them by hand, the message is that they were worth the time. No email campaign does that as efficiently.
