Ink That Has to Mean Something

Tattoo design is the highest-stakes creative work I do, because there's no revision cycle after the fact. Every line has to be intentional, and it has to still be intentional in twenty years. This shows the process behind my first designed tattoo and the birth month flower piece that followed — mockups first, placement studies rendered on illustrated hands and arms, multiple layout options, then refinement down to the version that felt settled. What I've learned from designing tattoos has genuinely changed how I approach brand work. When you can't undo it, you stop decorating and start deciding. You ask what the piece actually needs to say, strip out everything not carrying meaning, and commit. That's a good discipline to bring back to work that is revisable.
