Hook and Yarn

Crochet is my slowest craft and my most meditative one. The heart granny square blanket was made square by square over a long stretch of evenings — burgundy hearts on cream, assembled and bordered once every square was finished and blocked. Also here: the chain garlands, the crocheted Happy Birthday Mom banner, and the smaller in-progress pieces that get made while I'm thinking about something else. I don't crochet to be efficient. I crochet because it's the one creative practice with no client, no deadline, and no deliverable — which makes it the one that reliably resets me. Everything else in this Creative Corner exists partly because crochet keeps the well full.
