A Library Turns One Hundred

The Palatine Public Library's 100 Year Anniversary was a full-year campaign, and a large amount of it was physically made rather than purchased. This is the craft layer of that work: the Fourth of July parade float and its banners, the 100 Year Mini Golf Weekend build with its promo props and final hole, the three hundred hand-assembled event gift bags, the cardstock centennial cakes, the anniversary balloon arc, the exhibit panel wireframe, the gift tags, the hand-drawn main library illustration and its framed prints, and the anniversary sprinkles and table pieces. Doing it this way was a choice. Custom fabrication meant every piece matched the campaign identity exactly, and it meant the budget went further than it would have on vendor pricing. It also meant a lot of evenings at a cutting mat. Both things are true.
